This alert is no longer active: Don't put factory farms above the law!

The Senate agriculture conference committee members agreed to slip a dangerous provision (the Larry Craig amendment) into the appropriations bill that would exempt factory farms from prosecution under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) and the Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA). CERCLA, commonly known as Superfund, and EPCRA are designed to protect the public from hazardous waste, and to hold companies accountable for pollution violations. This exemption for factory farms would take away one of the few tools people have to stop the horrible pollution that these facilities can cause. Tell the House agriculture conference committee members to reject this dangerous provision!
