Tell Congress: Vote for the Energy Bill!

Thank you for taking an interest in the energy bill.  All of your emails worked!  The energy bill passed -- without any cost-benefit loopholes from fuel economy -- and was signed into law by Bush.  To learn about more important issues, follow the link http://www.citizen.org/action/.

Recently, we asked you to pressure your representatives into crafting an energy bill that calls for a real mandate for fuel economy. After thousands of calls and e-mails, it worked!

The Senate is getting ready to vote on a bill that would set a firm standard of 35 mpg by 2020 for cars and light trucks.  It passed in the House 235 to 181 already. The measure no longer allows a cost-benefit analysis to be used to dismantle fuel economy standards in the auto industry’s favor. This will help all of us who feel the pain of increased gasoline prices, and ultimately it will protect the environment.

Act quickly and tell your Senators to pass this bill!
