Victory! On January 31, 2008 the Senate voted to include an extension of the renewable energy tax credits in the Economic Stimulus package.  Now, we need to send the same message to the House. Stay tuned and keep the pressure on for clean energy!

Why Extend the Renewable Energy Tax Credits?

  • The renewable energy tax credits allocated in the Energy Policy Act of 2005 are set to expire at the end of this year.
  • Over 100,000 Americans could be put to work in 2008 if the tax credits were extended in the first quarter of this year.
  • In a carbon restrainted world, we must encourage more robust investment in renewable energy.
  • Renewable energy - which includes solar, wind, wave, advanced hydro, certain types of biomass and geothermal - can reliably generate as much energy as conventional fuels and can do so without producing carbon emission or radioactive waste.
