Benchmark Study (with some flawed methodology) shows average of 25 to 26 percent open rate with open rates declining -- possibly due to preview panes. Click rate was about 9 percent.
PCAN subscribers generally click at a slightly higher (1 - 2 percent higher for both open and click) except during the late summer and during the holidays when they open and click less and when they are new to the list when they open and click at a higher rate. Testing of subject lines suggests PC activists are less sensitive to subject lines and probably opening a mail based on seeing it's from Public Citizen.  Members like reports. Activists prefer actions.
