I recently found out about a type of birth control that doubles the risk of blood clots compared to other kinds of birth control. Blood clots are a real danger—usually they form in the arms, legs, abdomen, and veins in the brain. A blood clot can travel from the site where it is formed and block blood flow in another location—such as in your lungs, which is often fatal.
Millions of prescriptions are filled each year for these so-called “third generation oral contraceptives” containing an ingredient called desogestrel. These drugs do not protect women any more than other forms of birth control and there is no other therapeutic advantage to taking them.
I just found out about this—but the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has had this information for 12 years! Why are these drugs still on the market? Why has nothing been done to protect women?
I think these drugs should be taken off the market—what do you think? Send me a link to your video telling me how this information impacts you.
