Thank you, Connecticut!

Congratulations, Connecticut, on your success in taking action and making phone calls to ensure your state's passage of one of the strongest “clean” elections laws anywhere in the country!  For more details about this legislative victory, click here for the New York Times article (may require registration).

You are undoubtedly aware of the perils posed to the public interest when lobbyists and government contractors are permitted to “buy” the attention of government officials.  By outlawing financial contributions from interested private parties and voting for voluntary, full public funding of state-wide and legislative elections, you have safeguarded Connecticut against the culture of corruption that seemingly permeates the national political scene—and will continue to do so until other citizens follow your lead by demanding that their state governments clean up their act as well.  Way to go!
