Tell George W. Bush It's Time to Come Clean

Once again, the Bush White House is trying to keep the truth from the American people. It's now clear that President Bush's chief strategist and political henchman, Karl Rove, was involved in revealing the identity of an important undercover CIA operative two years ago - solely to punish her husband, a diplomat, for telling the truth about the administration's fraudulent case against Iraq. It's time for Bush to stop dissembling and tell the American people the truth.

Protect Organic Seafood: Don't Let a Fishy Industry Mess With Your Dinner

Think your "organic" seafood is safe? It might not be. Banned and ecologically dangerous checmicals have been found at self-proclaimed organic seafood farms. That's because the "organic" labels and standards are determined by the industry. These labels are confusing and the standards are without public input or scrutiny, are not enforceable and sometimes inaccurate. With your help, that's going to change.

Tell the EPA Not to Weaken Standards that Protect the Public From Radiation

The EPA proposed a revised radiation protection standard for the Yucca Mountain high-level radioactive waste dump in Nevada that will fall far short of protecting public health. This is yet again an example of regulations being made to meet an industry-desired end, not to truly ensure public health and safety.

The indictment of a top Bush administration official shines a bright light on the moral bankruptcy and hypocrisy of this White House. It's time for Bush administration officials to be held personally responsible for their shameful deceptions.

Talk at Georgetown, The Climate Crisis: Is Nuclear Power Necessary?

Global climate disruption is arguably the most severe environmental crisis ever to face humanity. The continued global conflict over oil has become increasingly joined to the problem of nuclear weapons. A new U.S. war over oil seems to be on the horizon, while another still creates tragedies every day for the people of Iraq, the United States and other countires. Energy is clearly one of the defining issues of our time, in some ways the critical issue. Yet we seem stuck with 103 nuclear power plants, even more coal fired power plants, and the use of 20 million barrels a day of oil.

Don't Let Congress Hand the Auto Industry a Blank Check

The auto industry has created a nice little mess for itself. For years Detroit automakers have ignored consumer desires for cleaner, more fuel efficient vehicles and continued churning out massive, gas-guzzling sport utility vehicles to secure handsome profits. They disregarded rising gas prices and lessons learned from the oil embargoes and shortages of the 1970s.

Now these corporate giants are descending on Washington hat in hand to request that the taxpayers bail them out.  They want as much as $50 billion in loan guarantees so they can continue business as usual.
