TEXANS: Invest in Your Future
Put the Spotlight on Solar Energy

Senate Bill 20, which passed last year, was supposed to create a common-sense market structure to build on the success of past programs and diversify renewable energy resources in Texas. It's time for people across Texas have more access to renewable energy, and solar energy systems installed on homes and businesses would result in a stronger grid and stabilized energy prices.

Unfortunately, staff at the Public Utilities Commission has released a draft "strawman" that:

  • Will reduce the overall amount of renewable energy that would be installed in Texas
  • Will not result in the development of solar energy in Texas
  • Will not increase the reliability of the grid with distributed solar power, and
  • Misses the opportunity to create new renewable energy jobs and businesses in Texas.
