Stop the Spread of Billboards in Miami

Tell City and County Officials to Enforce the Sign Code

Distracting and annoying electronic billboards have already proliferated throughout Miami. Now the city wants to add even more of these garish billboards on city-owned property.

These billboards detract from the city’s natural beauty and subject residents and visitors to excessive advertising.

The city is even proposing to put such billboards on the side of the Miami Children’s Museum. Is it asking too much for the city not to plaster commercial ads on the side of a building meant to educate and entertain children?

These billboards are not only a nuisance. They are also in violation of the county sign code, according to the Miami-Dade County Attorney.

It’s time to call on city and county officials to protect Miami residents and visitors from the crass commercialism of outdoor advertising.
