Closed-door negotiations on a Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) “free trade” deal are speeding up. If our senators do not get a steering wheel and emergency brake over run-away negotiators, this deal will take our country off a cliff. At stake are millions more American jobs offshored and floods of unsafe imported food, and higher medicine prices.
But Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) has introduced legislation that would set rules about what can and cannot be in our trade deals to make sure that they work for us, not just the large corporations now calling the shots. And the bill would reassert Congress’s role in overseeing the process to ensure our trade policy exports U.S. products — not U.S. jobs. We need your help getting more senators to support this critical bill as co-sponsors.
