The U.S. Supreme Court has handed down another outrageous ruling giving CEOs, billionaires and Big Business even more power to sway our elections.
The ruling in McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission means the super-rich can dole out up to $5.9 million — the limit had been $123,000 — per election cycle to political candidates and parties.
This wildly anti-democratic ruling compounds the court’s 2010 Citizens United debacle, which permitted corporations to spend literally as much as they want trying to tilt elections toward candidates who will serve as their puppets.
