As we move into the 2012 campaign season, we are beginning to get a taste of just how far corporations are willing to go to influence our political process, and the picture is not pretty. In the wake of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, corporations are spending hundreds of millions of dollars to ensure that their interests are the ones our politicians are concerned about, at the expense of the interests of the American people.
That’s where you come in. Already, people in towns and cities across the country are advancing resolutions through their city councils and state legislatures that declare public support for a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United, challenge corporate power and keep our democracy firmly in the hands of the American people.
This spring, we’re planning a push to pass 100 new local resolutions calling for a constitutional amendment, centered around Resolutions Week in June. Will you join us? We also know that many cities and towns have already passed resolutions. If this is the case, you can work to move forward a ballot initiative or work to get a resolution passed in your county or state.
Please sign up if you would like to help lead an effort in your home town to pass a resolution:
