Call Your Representative to Oppose Fast Track

Your Representative Needs to Publicly Commit Today to Vote “No” on Fast Track for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP)

Making this call is quick and easy. Call the U.S. Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask the operator to connect you to your representative’s office. If you don’t know who your representative is, no problem. Just give the operator your zip code and they will connect you. When the office answers, say you are a constituent and would like to speak to the chief of staff. You will probably be asked to leave a message on the chief’s voice mail. Those messages have a real effect!

Use the script below to give them a call. Make sure that you include the key points in the first paragraph and feel free to put the message in your own words!

Hello, my name is ___{name}___. I am from ___{your town or city}___. I'm calling to urge my representative to oppose Fast Track for the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Fast Track would let the president sign TPP before Congress even gets to vote on it. Key congressional demands on TPP have been ignored already. If that’s how they view Congress now, just imagine what the process would look like under Fast Track. We elect our members of Congress to represent our interests. That means NOT delegating away Congress’ constitutional authority over trade but rather using it to protect us from damaging so-called trade deals. I expect my lawmakers to oppose Fast Track. I'll be watching this issue closely.

I would like a written commitment that my representative will oppose Fast Track and demand a new form of trade authority that provides Congress and the public with a meaningful role from start to finish in trade negotiations and approval processes. Please send this written response to ___{your email address}___.
