Take Action to Stop Fast Track
Write Your Senators to Oppose Fast Track for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP)
Despite the recent disappointing House vote, Fast Track’s path to approval remains entirely uncertain. Luckily, we know exactly where it should go — nowhere.
On Thursday, the House tossed the Fast Track hot potato back to the Senate. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell now needs to get 60 Senate votes to move Fast Track. He plans that vote for as early as TODAY (June 23).
Recall that in May, Fast Track squeaked by with only 62 Senate votes. Then the House made the Fast Track bill even worse. Plus, this version does not include the assistance for workers hurt by trade that many of the 12 Democratic senators who supported it last time said was key to their vote.
Winning this next Senate vote is critical to stopping Fast Track. And, stopping Fast Track is a sure way to stop the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and all it would bring with it: offshored jobs, lower wages, unsafe food, increased fracking, deregulated Wall Street, and on and on.
