Stop Massive Handouts to Big Coal
Sign Petition to Keep Coal Moratorium in Place
Coal leases on our public lands cost American taxpayers more than $1 billion every year.
In January, the Obama administration issued a moratorium on all new coal leases — but now coal shills in Congress are scheming to overturn the moratorium as part of a new major energy bill.
Add Your Name to Keep the Ban on New Coal Leases
We, the undersigned, call on Congress to reject efforts to overturn the moratorium on coal leases. Coal leases on public land cost taxpayers more than a $1 billion every year. And oil, coal and gas produced on public lands are responsible for more than 20 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions. Half of those emissions are from coal.
The Obama administration was right to halt costly and toxic coal extraction on public land. Vote against any effort to reinstate coal leases and support the shutdown of all fossil fuel production on our public lands.
