WHAT: Public Citizen will host a discussion with Ciara Torres-Spelliscy, corporate law expert and author of the new book Corporate Citizen? An Argument for the Separation of Corporation and State on Friday, Oct. 7 at 11 a.m.
In response to the expansion of corporate rights under Citizens United, among other Supreme Court rulings, and the simultaneous effort to limit corporations’ responsibilities for crime and wrongdoing, a resistance has emerged. The book explores this resistance and the reforms supported by the movement to rein in corporate power.
