Consumer Rights Lobby Day Application
The first annual Consumer Lobby Day starts with a training on Tuesday, May 9, in advance of the lobby day on Wednesday, May 10.
The lobby day is being organized by Consumer Federation of America, Public Citizen, U.S. PIRG, Consumer Reports, National Association of Consumer Advocates, National Consumer Law Center, National Consumers League and Americans for Financial Reform.
We will convene in Washington, D.C., the afternoon of Tuesday, May 9, for training, discussion and an informal reception. On Wednesday, May 10, we will meet with congressional staff, hear from one of our congressional champions and oppose the mounting assault on consumer protections. These protections include those safeguarding lower-income consumers of financial services, such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s payday lending rule.
An effective lobby day will include our allies from all over the country doing a broad array of work to protect consumers. Because we want to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to participate, some travel and hotel funds are available for those who need them.
