Keep Corporate Money Out of Connecticut Elections

Don’t Let the Governor Balance the Budget by Cutting Public Financing for Campaigns

Connecticut lawmakers are threatening to defund the Citizens’ Election Program. The state’s previous system of campaign financing led to multiple felonies that reached the highest levels of state government.

While there is a substantial budget gap, cuts to the Citizens’ Election Program is not the way to go about solving it. Experts believe that the system pays for itself by reducing the ability of lobbyists to insert self-serving loopholes into the law.

It’s critical that we not throw the doors back open to corporate money in our elections.
