Stop the Attack on Texas Trees
Over 100 Texas cities have rules to protect mature trees from destruction. Trees make our cities more livable by helping residents save money on air conditioning and helping weather the storms by reducing flooding.
But just this week, the Texas Senate passed SB 14, which would prohibit cities and property owner associations from enforcing tree protection ordinances.
Developers shouldn’t have the right to cut down trees that are providing valuable services to communities. That just shifts their cost of doing business onto the rest of us.
The bill is now up for a vote in the House Urban Affair Committee. We must stop it in its tracks to ensure powerful developers and the lawmakers they have bought don’t get their way.
