Northern Virginia Move To Amend to Show Heist: Who Stole the American Dream?

Three years ago, the Supreme Court decided Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission and said that corporations and unions could spend unlimited amounts of money in our elections. That gave us the Super PAC and secret campaign donations of hundreds of millions of dollars that are taking the voices of the people out of our democracy. To mark the third anniversary of that decision, Northern Virginia Move To Amend will be showing the film, Heist: Who Stole the American Dream? The film shows how corporate money and political power has dismantled American middle class prosperity over the last 30-plus years. But afterwards, we will discuss how our Move To Amend campaign to amend the Constitution to overturn Citizens United is part of the effort to curb undue corporate power and give back the power to the people necessary to remedy the harm that has been inflicted upon our society. Come and see the film and also see how you can help restore our country to what it once was: a nation with a government of, by, and for the people, and a place where all who worked hard could get ahead. This event is being co-sponsored by: Unitarian Universalists for Social Justice in the National Capital Region and the George Mason University Environmental Action Group. The event is open to the public and free of charge. Directions to the Fairfax campus can be found at: http://www.gmu.edu/resources/welcome/Directions/Directions-to-Fairfax.html Free parking is available in university surface lots so long as the spaces are not marked for handicapped parking.
