Democracy for People not Moneybags
Join us in rapid response events the DAY AFTER and the day of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling on McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission (FEC).
In a nutshell, if the court rules badly in McCutcheon, it would pretty much do for the richest what Citizens United did for corporations. Specifically, instead of being "limited" to investing $123,200 directly in federal candidates and parties, the limit would be $3.6 million, excluding state funding, possibly much more, per election cycle to a single party and its candidates.
The day of the ruling, we'll meet at the steps of the state Capitol in St. Paul at 8pm to display a Money is Not Equal to Speech lighted sign. The main action will be the next day at the U.S. Courthouse
Event Location300 S. Fourth St.
Minneapolis, MN 55415
Depending on weather, we may spend some time outside the court house. No matter what, we'll enter the skyway and do a march to the Chamber of Commerce during a high-visibility, downtown, corporate lunch time.
