At the Nov. 4-5 Summit of the Americas in Argentina, the desire of President Bush to expand the failed NAFTA model to the entire Western Hemisphere was dealt a lethal blow. In a huge victory for fair trade advocates, leaders from Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Venezuela declared that they would not consider a new round of talks until the United States changed its failed trade policies. Many U.S. newspapers, however, are not conveying the message that it is not just Latin Americans, but U.S. citizens as well, that are displeased with the continuing insistence on failed trade policies. Please write a letter to the editor of your local paper about Bush's attempt to revive the anti-worker and anti-environment FTAA.
