Dear Senator

As a constituent, I am writing to urge you to protect the Clean Air Act. Reversing the EPA's historic finding that greenhouse gas pollution endangers public health is a dangerous precedent and would block the most important safeguard we have in fighting global warming. Unfortunately, Senator Murkowski is attempting to sap the Clean Air Act of its ability to protect our environment and public health. With tens of thousands of gallons of oil spilling in the Gulf of Mexico, Senator Murkowski’s resolution would threaten the historic fuel economy and greenhouse gas standards just finalized on April 1. It also would prevent the EPA from engaging in the White House’s new initiative to cut oil consumption. Murkowski also has been influenced and directed by Jeffery Holmstead, an energy lobbyist who represents some of the country’s big polluters. Holmstead helped Murkowski craft an amendment to allow his clients to continue polluting. The financial interest of these companies and those they shower with contributions cannot be put above the health of the American public and our environment. I urge you to preserve the integrity of the Clean Air Act and the regulatory authority of the EPA by voting against efforts to block or limit this essential tool.
