TRADE Act Introduced: Write Your Rep!
The momentum for progressive trade reform has shifted our way. In late June, the TRADE Act was reintroduced for 2009 with 106 original cosponsors, including nine powerful committee chairs and representation from the full range of Democratic caucuses and classes. The fact that nearly half the Democratic caucus supported this legislation from the start sends a clear signal to the administration that only the strong, specific trade reform agenda of the TRADE Act will gain support in Congress.
But we still need more. President Obama is set to deliver a trade policy speech sometime this summer, and we need to keep the pressure on by showing that the TRADE Act has the support of a majority of House members. If you can help get your House member signed onto the TRADE Act, you can further build the momentum we've gained. Please use the form below to email your member of Congress and urge him or her to support fair trade by signing on as a cosponsor of H.R. 3012, the 2009 TRADE Act.
