Dr. David Himmelstein testifies on single-payer before Congress on April 23
Congress has held nearly twenty hearings on health care reform this year already, and the discussion has revolved completely around how to justify and the continued existence of private health insurance. A witness was invited to testify about single-payer for the first time when Dr. David Himmelstein, co-founder of Physicians for a National Health Plan and Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, spoke before the Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions Subcommittee of the House Committee on Education at a hearing on "Ways to Reduce the Cost of Health Insurance for Employers, Employees and their Families."
