Take Action for Health Care March 10

Public Citizen and the Leadership Conference for Guaranteed Health Care are hosting some exciting activities starting March 10 to campaign for health care for every American.

The Obama administration is taking on the giant task of reforming health care, so it's crucial that we maintain support and momentum for the only proposal that will provide truly universal coverage and reduce costs - single-payer.

Here's what's on our agenda:

1) America's Health Insurance Plans, the trade group representing the private insurance industry, is holding a conference at the Ritz Carlton in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, March 10. This powerful lobby helped defeat health care reform 16 years ago; this time around it will fight any true reform that limits or eliminates the role of insurance companies in our health care system.

If you are in the Washington, D.C., area, please join Public Citizen and other activists at the Ritz Carlton (1160 22nd St. NW) at 11 a.m. this Tuesday to demonstrate outside the conference and demand real health care reform.

For more information, contact Donna Smith at

2) We're also going to flood representatives' phones and fax machines on Tuesday, demanding support for HR 676, "Expanded and Improved Medicare for All." This bill would eliminate private insurance and create a publicly financed, privately delivered health care system that covers every American. (You can learn more about the legislation

Please join thousands of other activists this Tuesday by calling your representatives and faxing them your health insurance bills or denial letters. You can find more information on your representatives

Learn more about single-payer, and spread the word to your friends and colleagues!
