Petition: No Sweetheart Deal for BP
Urge the U.S. Government to Seek the Highest Penalties for Oil Spill Possible Under the Law
The government is reportedly considering a deal under which BP would pay $16 billion to settle the civil suit regarding the April 20, 2010, oil spill.
The settlement would cut dramatically reduce BP’s financial liability for the worst offshore oil spill in U.S. history that killed 11 men.
Sign the Petition to the Department of Justice Demanding BP is Held Accountable
We, the undersigned, call on the U.S. government to take the $16 billion settlement deal off the table.
And we demand that prosecutors seek maximum civil penalties under the Clean Water Act and a judgment that BP is liable without limitation for oil removal costs and natural resource damages.
