Protect Communities from Exploding Oil Trains
Email Your Senators to Sponsor Oil Train Safety Legislation
Record amounts of climate-disrupting fuels are being moved by rail through every corner of our country — putting our communities, water supplies and environment at risk.
Already this year, five fiery oil train derailments have occurred. And we can expect more unless immediate action is taken.
Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) has introduced legislation that would improve the safety of railcars carrying crude oil, levy heavier penalties on companies that operate recklessly and require notification of train schedules to communities near oil train routes.
