Tell the Trump Administration: Don't Roll Back Clean Car Standards

Clean car standards help keep our air clean, fight climate change and save us money at the gas pump.

But Donald Trump and his dirty deputies at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are attacking those standards and trying to revoke states’ authority to protect their citizens from dangerous air pollution.

Speak out now to stop the Trump administration from putting the interests of auto lobbyists and corporate polluters like the Kochs over the American people’s health, climate and pocketbooks.

Dear Acting EPA Administrator Wheeler and Acting NHTSA Administrator Heidi King:

I’m writing to strongly oppose the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) rollback of fuel economy and greenhouse gas emissions standards for vehicles, known as clean car standards.

Americans deserve clean air and protection from rising costs at the gas pump, and that’s exactly what the current clean car standards deliver. The standards already have cut pollution and saved consumers more than $60 billion at the gas pump.

Undermining these achievable, successful and commonsense standards will allow automakers to manufacture dirtier vehicles that pollute the air and harm our health. More than 25 million Americans suffer from asthma. We shouldn’t be rolling back safeguards that protect them.

The EPA and NHTSA must not weaken or roll back clean car standards, nor should they infringe on the longstanding authority of states to protect their citizens from air pollution when federal standards aren’t protective enough.

Sincerely,
