Protect Worker Health and Food Safety

Big Ag is at it again. The nation's pork industry wants to remove the cap on how fast pigs can be processed — putting consumers and workers at risk.

Faster line speeds means that fecal contamination and diseased animals are more likely to make it into our food supply. It also can cause chronic health problems for workers, including carpal tunnel syndrome and other debilitating disorders.

The United States Department of Agriculture recently rejected an attempt by the poultry industry to increase processing plant line speeds. We need your voice to ensure it does the same thing for the pork industry.

I oppose this attempt to get rid of speed limitations for pork processing lines.

This proposal is dangerous for workers and consumers.

The public deserves food free of contamination.
